astraea111 [Added: 05/02/04 | Buffy Spike]OK, as much as season 4’s ‘Initiative’ storyline was kind of a snoozer, I loved the Spike and Buffy interactions. Lots and lots of snarky fun, and as far as I’m concerned, you can’t go wrong with anything involving Spike chained up in Giles’ bathtub. This mid-sized reading hits on my favorite part of that season- while adding in a lot of sex. We kick off with Spike in chains at Giles’- and he’s driving Giles batshit. I love that! Anyway, Giles insists that Buffy take Spike with her on patrol, if only to get him out of the house. There’s just enough plot here to keep the story moving forward, but really, I love this story for the great dialogue and the characterizations of both Buffy, Spike- and really the whole crew. Everyone is simply likable- maybe a bit more likeable than on the show, even before things went to shit. This fic, it makes me happy.
