Hee- cute, shortish, well written bit of future fic fluff. No matter how evil Lex gets, he just can’t seem to get a rise out of ‘Superman’. When he notices Clark has a jealous streak, well he just has to capitalize on it. Superman strikes back. Worth the read, particularly if you like your Superman a bit on the dominant side!
Um- wow. That was just odd. I’ve been relying a lot on rec sites for my fanfic fix, and now I kind of remember why. I checked the story out because I always like Lex/Lionel interaction, in whatever form. This was just- odd.
Kudos for the beginning, because I fell for the trick. Writing could use a beta- particularly at the beginning, I got lost on who was saying and doing what (which was sort of the point, but the writing was still awkward). But the real kicker for me was the characterizations. I just wasn’t buying it. Not Lex, not Lionel. Short, quick, bizarre read. It’s like watching a bad car accident- I couldn’t look away.
OK, trying this one because it sounds like bondage fun! It is- just a short, decently written pwp, with a fairly dom Clark and Lex in cuffs. Worth the read if that’s your sort of thing- though this line inadvertantly cracked me up: Clark pulled off the rigid cock and licked up along it slowly. Heh.
Link goes to the last LJ post- wait to rec until all 3 books are up on SSA. Yea, this is my kind of story. A huge, sprawling, slightly future fic that veered from canon back at ‘Lineage’. I think it was partially inspired by ‘Ransom’? Need to double check that. Anyway, good story. It’s all about Clark and the Kents getting kidnapped and Lex (with some help from Chloe) spending years searching for them. Lots of action and plot and intrigue and I really like the characterizations. ‘Action’ Lex is a personal fav, and I like how he feels unworthy, how he desperately wants to be a part of a family, how he’s willing to sacrifice just about anything to get Clark back. The characterization hits a lot of my kinks. Might be painted with slightly broader strokes than I personally prefer, but a damn good read. Do note- this one earned its rating.
Though it’s pretty much a pwp, it reads like poetry and has a really nice characterization of Lex. I like how he’s really trying not to pursue Clark- and Clark won’t let him be virtuous. It also has sex. Beautiful, beautiful sex. It reads like Lex is vying with the sun for the honor of touching Clark. Clark as the modern Ra? Yea, that’s an interpretation I can buy. Like the nods to mythology as well. If you want hot, steamy, sensuous first time Clex, this is a nice one.
From a rec on TWOP, for Lex/Superman future fic. Fairly short, nicely written, a bit tongue in cheek tale of how Lex decides he’s tired of fighting. Of course, being Lex, he can’t simply call a truce. Just slightly more story than a pwp, and a nice way to spend 15 minutes. Solid, standard fare.
A story I’d read ages ago and just visited again, this is a creative bit of fantasy, featuring Lilian’s ghost who comes back every halloween. We see Lex and Clark through her eyes, from 2001-2004. Because she doesn’t know what happens during the rest of the year, we piece together the boys changing relationship through the events of each night. It’s a sweet little fic (the premise allows us to cover a lot of story while still being a short read) with a good heart, and I like the mechanism through which the story is told. Solid writing and a good denial fic. It doesn’t really stick with me, but I definitely enjoyed reading it and it was something different from the standard fare.
I stopped reading this series a really long time ago. So long ago, I figured I’d try it again. This chapter in the ‘established relationship’ Clex series parallels the ‘Skinwalker’ episode. Solid writing, a nice long chunk of story, and plenty of plot- but I remembered why I stopped reading it. It just feels really episodic to me- kinda like a soap opera. It’s low on action with a very heavy focus on relationships and people talking about things. Basically, I just end up bored. Lex also comes across a little weaker than I prefer. Damn shame, really. I love long, plotty stories- and this series just goes on and on. Just not my style of storytelling. (Also strikes me as ‘off’ that half the characters are ‘bi’ at some point during the series. Jonathan, Whitney, Lana, Chloe, Lionel, Dominic, etc. I keep expecting the ‘Pete comes out’ episode.)
This is a well crafted tale that I read some time ago. It’s set at the beginning of the second season, after Lionel had regained his sight. It begins like something out of a fairytale, with a creepy little man showing up at LuthorCorp to demand that Lionel fulfill his end of a contract. The creepy little man seems even less human than Lionel on a bad day, and the contract involves Lex and his 22nd birthday. And then… it’s off to Smallville, where things are pretty normal. Considering it’s Smallville, things are exceedingly normal.
Now, I want to note- this was a hell of a way to begin the story. Just having that little scene at the beginning made me view all of the ‘normal’ with a suspicious eye. You KNOW something bad and creepy is lurking around in the corners, and it adds spice to the more mundane (though well written) adventures of Clark and crew trying to plan Lex a birthday party. The whole time, I’m sitting there trying to figure out what the creepy little man is up to. At the same time, it was nice to read about a Smallville that (seemed) to have accepted Lex and to see Lex happy and striking out on his own. Nice dichotomy there. Anyway, sure enough, the creepy little man shows up with an antiquity that Lex might be interested in. It’s a mirror with more than a touch of magic about it. Lex is intrigued, and as he spends more and more time with his new toy, Smallville goes to hell.
This is a nice, plotty story with excellent characterizations. I loved that Clark, Chloe, Lana and Pete all came together to work on the problems vexing both Lex and the town. I REALLY wish the show had given us more of that and less of the stupid love stories. This is also an interesting portrayal of Lex. I liked how his curiosity compels him- and I love how he’s tried to turn that off when he’s around Clark. But there’s bitterness there as well, and while Lex may be willing to swallow Clark’s lies, it becomes apparent that he is not so able to digest them. This isn’t my favorite Lex story- there’s a section in the middle where he’s a bit more… passive? distracted? Something. Anyway, it bogged down for me just a little in there, but partly that’s just me and the rest of the story was enough to carry it off. Good fic- good story.
[Do note- I’ve labeled this slash, because there’s sex of a sort, but not really- however Lex is clearly obsessed with Clark, so I figure that’s the best place to put it.]
Jenn is usually a ‘money’ author for me, and this is a remix of RivkaT’s “Golden Rule” which I have rec’ed- which makes it all the more puzzling that this story didn’t do much for me. It’s not bad- I always enjoy jenn’s style and the ‘Golden Rule’ story is an interesting one (future fic, Superman and Lex were enemies, Lex gets bonked on the head and can’t remember anything post-wedding to Helen, Clark takes advantage of that fact)- but this fairly short read doesn’t add much to the original story and it seemed a bit disjointed to me. Eh. Worth the read, but I won’t visit it more than once.
This is an interesting AU that I’d read chunks of prior to completion. It breaks from canon way back with Clark’s landing, and Lex and Clark end up being raised as brothers by Martha and Lionel. It’s an interesting read and I tend to enjoy both the pairing of Martha and Lionel and Clex as brothers. I also liked all of the changes that followed from the AU break and I thought the Martha characterization was really interesting. That said, the story didn’t really ‘grab’ me. I’m not sure why. I felt a little distanced from the characters, Lex in particular. It’s not that I didn’t enjoy the characterizations or that I wasn’t interested in following the story- but I’ve no desire to read this fic twice. It is, however, worth reading once!
This mid-sized chunk of established relationship future-fic made me happy. It didn’t ‘stick to my ribs’, but I definitely enjoyed it. Really, not a hell of a lot happens, but it explores Clark’s early days working at the Daily Planet, working with Lois Lane, and juggling his newspaper duties with his Superman life and his relationship with Lex Luthor. Clark is just sweet- and a dolt. A sweet dolt who really, really loves Lex. It definitely made me grin a few times. I’m not recommending it, what with the lack of ‘stick’, but I DO recommend you read it. Pleasurable way to burn half and hour.
When I get bored and wander around looking for fic, I always check out what’s new in the SSA. This story seemed a likely choice- a decent sized read set during s2, it’s part of the ‘Zodiac Challenge’. The premise is classic h/c. Lex gets himself busted up while out on a date and it’s Toby to the rescue. Fortunately, Toby knows that what Lex really needs isn’t stitches or meds, but Clark. With a little help from the stoner doc, Clark and Lex embrace their destiny- together.
This is a solid read- I rather like the author’s style. Toby may be a bit ‘Buddha-like’, but it was nice to see people looking out for Lex. Hell, it was really nice to see Clark looking out for Lex. This is a nice antidote when the rift gets you down. That said, it’s pretty much just a h/c piece that focuses on Lex and Clark hooking up. In short, just not enough story for my particular tastes.
Woot! While I’m not so big on the x-overs, Buffy/Smallville gives me a happy. Well, sometimes it does. This would not be one of those times. If I had to pick one word to describe the story, it would be ‘random. Very, very, random.’ Which is more like 4 words, but whatever. Set summer 2002 for both series, it kicks of with Spike and Xander road tripping down to Smallville so Spike can borrow some cash from his old buddy Lex. About half the story is the opening dialog between Xander, Spike, Lex and Clark. It’s not that the dialog is particularly bad- it’s just really random. I’m reading along wondering why Xander is going on about ‘the gay’ and then the long discussion of what names mean and who is a better protector of humanity- Lex or Xander- and… Yea, just random. However, bonus points for a mutant attack about 2/3’s through- nice touch of the bizarre. Also, major bonus points for the fact monster movies get Clark hot- and it was cute that a real monster attack did the same. Of course, then it turns out that Lex and Clark have just reached the heavy petting stage of their relationship, and Lex wants to wait before ‘going all the way’. Which is completely cool and actually a characterization I like, except the story had led me to believe otherwise so it just felt… wait for it… random.
Eh- overall, the story could use a beta, pov drifts, and it’s kinda random. On the plus side- well, I like Buffy and Smallville and there are some nice touches to the story. I’ll leave you with one of my favorites- this little Spike quote: For the last six years, Xander here has fought by her side. Why? Because he’s stupid. Or brave. But mainly stupid. Hee- good Spike voice! Overall, however, a bit uneven.
Man, I really gotta stop just randomly picking fics to read. When I started on this future fic, I thought it was a parody. Not a funny parody, but a parody. Then I hoped it was a parody. Guess what? Not a parody. My, that was just distasteful. Check this bit of internal monologue:
Until Lena popped back up and let loose a thousand memories he and everyone else were better off without. Stupid fucking cunt ruined everything. He was going to ring her neck and then drop her off the end of the Earth. At least he never had to fuck that manipulative little bitch ever again.
Who’s that make you think of? Clark Kent, right? No? Me neither. Anyway, the story basically boils down to Clark being real pissed off because he walked in on his best friend Lex fucking Clark’s girlfriend Lois. How does Clark respond? He jerks off a lot and fucks a bunch of random people. That’s the first half of the story. Then Clark fucks Lex and is upset when it turns out Lex doesn’t seem to want to get back together with him afterward. Of course, it all makes sense when it’s revealed that Clark had initially fucked Lex’s wife Lena because he was jealous and wanted to get rid of her. Um, yea, I’m not going to try and explain it any better than that. In short- the story boils down to lots of fucking and characters I don’t recognize.
Wow, this is a very interesting AU. It’s told from Clark’s pov, which is odd, because Clark is dead. Ah well, the boy never was ‘normal’! The story covers a fairly long time frame, beginning in Smallville where Clark feels too alone, too isolated, and too dangerous to those he loves. So he kills himself. Hm- I really wasn’t too keen on that aspect, but my fascination for the story kept me reading. Clark, in rather ‘ghostly’ format, peers down on those he loves, experiencing the grief and the course of their lives. He focuses largely on Chloe and Lex, and over time learns their secrets and their thoughts. Eventually, he is able to briefly communicate with Chloe, and he urges her to go to Lex because he fears for his friend. At this point, we’re well into future fic territory, and I was completely caught up in the story, wondering what would happen. The relationship/feelings between Chloe, Clark and Lex are well portrayed and I liked all of the characterizations. The story took a real turn when Lex decided to try and bring Clark back. The final joining (i.e., sex) between the trio is fairly long and fairly explicit and works rather well, though I liked this one best for the characterizations and the plot. I like a story that keeps me guessing, and this one did.
I’m not dead certain I’ll rec it- it’s very good and it’s interesting. Perhaps I wish it had gone on longer (it’s a mid-sized read) and further explored the difficulties inherent in Clark’s return. Yep- that’s it. The story that’s there is excellent, but I’d like to see it expanded. You know me, always in it for the plot and the action more than the sex. Still, this was different and it was good (and it made me realize I really need to come up with a mechanism for classifying multiple pairing fics. Sigh. I’m not feeling the coding love at the moment.) Overall, definitely a fic worth reading.
This is a fun, mid-sized future fic that starts with Lex getting into a big car pile up. His instincts kick in and he helps save quite a few people- and ends up grooving on the vibe! So, Lex turns himself into a super hero. Okay, not really the most likely premise, but it was fun. The story’s solidly written and has some neat turns of phrase. There’s also some good Superman/Man with No Name interaction and the revelation of why Lex and Clark’s friendship ended (which was a bit contrived). All in all, I enjoyed it. Action!Lex always gives me a happy, even if I tend to like him a bit darker (ok, a LOT darker) than he’s portrayed here. The fic stretched the bounds of plausibility, but it was fun.
Oh- can’t imagine that I won’t be recommending this one as soon as it’s completed! Seems I have a ‘thing’ for ‘Conner’ fics (Conner is, according to canon, the genetic progeny of Clark and Lex). This story, told largely from Conner’s pov, follows the 9 year-old’s adventures as he pals around with his best friend, tries to unravel the mystery of who his mother is and why his father is reluctant to talk about her, and crushes on the lovely Lois Lane (while loathing Lois’ partner Clark Kent). It’s cute and funny and brings out maternal instincts I didn’t know I had. At the same time, the story provides us with very interesting characterizations of Lex, Lois and Clark- all seen through Conner’s eyes. What I like best is the way the story slowly reveals itself- the reader feels they are getting glimpses of a living, functioning world. It’s a great story and I can’t wait to find out what happened to make Clark and Lex enemies and how Conner came to be.
Hm, on the one hand, I really didn’t much like this story. On the other hand, I found it very satisfying. It’s a pretty short read, an entry in the ‘Twelve Days of Clark!Hurt challenge’- which is probably why I do and don’t like it. It must be set shortly after s3’s ‘Forsaken’ (where Clark rips Lex’s shirt open to find the wire). Anyway, after that incident, it seems that Lex is avoiding Clark and Clark kind of figures out that maybe, just maybe, he should sort of apologize for being a major asshat. But he doesn’t quite manage it, and so he avoids and avoids and avoids until it’s too late and Lex is lost to him forever.
Now honestly, it was kind of nice to read about Lex finally getting fed up with Clark being an asshat and it was very nice to see Clark coming to understand what he’s lost and why. On the other hand, jeesh, I hate the ‘friendship of legend’ dying due to Clark being an asshat (though kudos to the author for doing a nice job of portraying Clark’s pov in a way that did manage to be sympathetic). Anyway, long story short- it’s a solid little fic that was maybe just TOO much ‘in canon’ to suit me. The rift is going to be sad regardless, more so now that I see how hard Lex has fought NOT to give up in the face of some pretty crappy odds. I’m not really up for reading more of what the show’s already giving me.
This is actually a pretty interesting DC/Smallville x-over. Right now, it’s composed of two fairly short stories that stand alone okay. Anyway, it’s well into the future, post-rift, and Clark is Superman, Bruce is Batman, and Lex is the enemy. However, Clark is freaked when Lex makes a gesture of peace, and Clark is VERY tempted to take him up on it. Rather than go back to a relationship with a man he knows he can’t trust, Clark turns to Bruce to give him what he needs. Lex responds in his usual completely obsessed way, and decides to clone some genetic progeny from the combined sperm of Clark, Bruce and Lex. Hee!
Anyway, it’s not exactly my type of story, and I’d much rather see Clark with Lex than Clark with Bruce. However, it was well written and very interesting and I do love me psychotic/obsessed Lex. Actually, all of the characterizations worked rather well for me- all three of those guys are pretty damaged in their own ways. If the series continues on to actually comprise a full blown story, I could eventually end up rec’ing this one. It’s definitely not my usual thing, but it was NOT boring. I dig ‘NOT boring’.
So I’m feeling the need for some good fic and start hitting the ‘random story’ link over on SSA- and that’s rarely a good idea. It’s not that the first two fics that popped up sucked, cause they didn’t. They were just too bloody short- more effort to write up a note on them than to read them (so no note- I suck). Anyway, then I remember The Treasury, so wander over there to see if there’s anything old that I haven’t read- or want to read again.
This is a good one, though not my usual thing. Set sometime during the second season, the story is a nice character study of Lex. He’s off on a business trip to Japan, but the whole time he muses on Clark and their newfound relationship. There’s not much action, and really not much plot, but I enjoyed the style of the story, the way it sucked me in, made me wonder what was going on. We learn about what’s up with Clark via Lex’s thoughts, and the timeline is not strictly linear. That worked well to keep my interest, as did the nicely detailed writing style. It wasn’t overblown or TOO stylistic, but it resulted in a world that felt ‘real’. I also dug the characterizations- the way Lex views Clark’s alien nature was excellent- very much how I’d imagine canon working.
All and all, an interesting and very well written read- though it’s not my typical thing.
Interesting, fairly long, plotty action fic that should be right up my alley. It’s set during s1, and kicks off with Clark finding out Lex has been shot. I ALWAYS like stories that start off with Lex getting shot! Anyway, Clark decides he needs to stick close to Lex, and after a bit of a row with his dad, he does just that. It’s a good thing, seeing as the shooting is quickly followed by an attempted poisoning and then a bomb. Lex decides he needs to ‘play dead’, and Clark tags along with him to make sure he doesn’t end up dead. There’s a good bit of banged up but toughing it out Lex, an underlying mystery concerning who is behind the hit, plenty of slashy vibe, and even some interesting Lex/Lionel interaction. In short, it’s the kind of story that usually works for me, and I did like it and find it interesting.
However… This story is about a half-step ‘off’ for me. It’s told in 1st person, which I’m not a big fan of. The pov character is Clark, who has a major tendency toward inner-monologues- which I thought bogged the story down. The story almost read a little simplistic or cliche at times- but that could be my Clark bias showing. Further, I thought the banter between the guys only worked about half the time. So, overall an interesting read that just didn’t quite come together for me.
Ever read a fic that made you realize that you live on an entirely different plane of reality than the author? I just did. The best thing I can say for this post-s3 story is that no matter what actually airs in s4, I’ll have to like it better than I liked this story. Dude. Seriously.
Of course, it’s my own damn fault. I should have stopped reading about 3 paragraphs in, but Henry Jones wrote the only MPRG story I’ve actually liked, so I hung in there, thinking that any moment I’d ‘get it’ and the story would work for me. And I do like the writing- don’t get me wrong on that. But DUDE! Anyway, the story picks up after s-3 with Clark in the cave and Lex brain damaged by the poisoning attempt. And he stays that way through the four years or so this mid-sized read covers. Basically, this is the story of Martha taking care of developmentally disabled Lex- to the point of changing his incontinence pants. Just shoot me now. Please.
I’m adding this one now so I don’t forget to come back to it once it’s done. The link leads to LJ memories where individual chapters are kept. Once the story’s done, I’ll actually give it a decent rec. Disclaimers aside, this is shaping up to be one of my favorite fics in the fandom. It has s2(ish) Lex and Clark being swept up into some kind of parallel dimension where the Kryptonians fled their planet and relocated to earth. In this ‘new’ reality, Clark didn’t land alone. Instead, Earth was taken over by an invading force, though the Resistance still fights on. It’s a VERY different world, and Clark in particular finds it difficult to adjust to a reality in which he is seen as an ‘Evil Overload’. Lex also faces some tough issues- including the fact he’s alter ego may be a hero- and a dead one at that. In order to gain information, and protect Clark from the humans who see him as a threat, Lex takes the role of his illustrious alter-ego, while still struggling with the newfound knowledge that his best friend is an alien.
What gets me about this story- it’s a premise that inspires me to dream about it at night. I simply love the ideas and all of the possible ways this story could go. Part of it is the fact I like to see Lex cast in the role of a savior and I love stories where he’s on the run and facing massive odds. That just hits my kinks in a big way. More than that, I keep wondering if ‘other Lex’ managed to survive. I wonder about Lionel and if he’s still out there. If he is, how might his relationship with Lex differ from SV reality? Would Julian have been conceived in the first place, and if so, would he have died? All of that would have occurred post-invasion in the new reality, and is thus subject to change. Anyway, I’ll just stop now- but I dig this fic so much because it has me spinning out alternatives in my own head. I love that, and I can’t wait to see where the story goes. As an added bonus- because it’s jenn, you know the writing’s going to be good!
His brain went further to remind him that using platitudes in arguments with Lex was a really, really bad idea, and resulted in situations much like this. Clark mentally crossed all variations of walking a mile in another man’s shoes off the list of helpful Jonathan Kentisms, because it had not been helpful. At all. And once he’d said it, it had become walking a mile in another man’s shoes AND his pants, and was now involving no walking, but switching clothing with Lex in some strange effort to demonstrate mutual understanding.
Well, that pretty much sums up the idea behind this porny little pwp. Lex somehow manages to talk Clark into swapping clothes. The result? Clark, busting out all over. Cute, but not LOL funny enough to rec. Still, worth the read if you’re in the mood for mildly porny sweetness.
This is an interesting AU that starts off with the announcement of Lex Luthor’s death. Seems Clark wasn’t there that day on the bridge, and when Lex’s car went off the road, he drowned. The fanfic picks up the summer before the kid’s senior year, with Clark and Pete going to the abandoned ‘Luthor Castle’ for a teenage right of passage. The castle is purported to be haunted, and the challenge for any SV teen is to spend the night there without being scared off by the ghost. I really enjoyed the beginning of this story- it has a great Clark-Pete friendship vibe and I loved the bit about telling ghost stories! Too cute, very well written. Of course, then a real ghost shows up in the form of Lex- who only Clark can see. Again, this was an interesting bit, where it’s revealed that Clark has had the power to see ghosts for a while now (in addition to his other alien abilities). Clark, being Clark, tries to help the ghosts he meets resolve whatever problems still tie them to this world. All of this- very interesting, and once Clark and Lex start to becoming friends, there is some really sharp dialog. So, the first half of this story I really dug, but in the back of my head, I kind of knew that Clark and Lex probably wouldn’t be riding off into the sunset together, what with Lex being dead and all. Anyway, turns out Lex has been hanging around waiting for his brother Lucas to show up, so that he can judge whether or not the brother he never had is just a drone of Lionel’s or if he should try to help the kid escape from dear old dad’s thumb. Lucas arrives, in super smarmy mode, reveals he isn’t all that interested in running the plant given that Lionel just plans to shut it down anyway, and flirts like hell with Clark. And Chloe. And Victoria- who shows up as a result of a Chloe/Clark/Lex plan to save the plant. In the end, plant saved, some actual corporeal sex between Clark and Lex, and we fade out on Lex’s ghost, finally at peace.
Good story, very well written. It’s not really my type of story, which was pretty clear from the start, but the beginning in particular was simply charming. I wasn’t super thrilled with the level of confidence, maturity, and sexual freedom displayed by this version of Clark- but given the AU nature and the canon existence of Clark’s ‘RedK summer’, I could buy it. Still, not quite enough action/adventure for me, and it’s hard for ghost-Lex to really achieve the kind of dynamic ‘force of nature/take over the world’ characterization I prefer. Overall, though- definitely worth a read! The story has some great friendship scenes, nice dialog, sex, and enough plot to pull it all together.
Hee! Just a short humor fic I found from a TWoP rec. What is it that seahorses do? Um- the boys sort of give birth. Snicker. This is definitely a feminine fantasy, and a cute one at that. When all of the meteor rocks suddenly disappear, everyone is happy- except maybe Lionel. However, before the rocks vanish, the leave a little something behind. Not a substantial fic, but it inspired some chuckles and the writing style is solid.
A short, cute, future fic that’s set post-rift when Superman has already joined the JLA. It kicks off with Lex calling in a threat to Clark. If he doesn’t get pizza, real, from Italy pizza, he’s going to unleash his death ray. Clark is confuzzled. Lex is obviously drunk- and going through a mid-life crises that may well be inspired by his divorce from his 5th wife. What’s a supervillian to do once he has no more challenges left?
“I could join the Good Fight, I suppose. Bruce likes it. It’s not a bad hobby for a multi-billionaire,” Lex mused. “But I never liked groups or group projects. Group credit. Committees. Headaches. Playing well with others. Blergh.” He made a face, his breath starting to steam up the window a little. “Or. Or! I could become Santa Claus.”
Yea, this one is just cute and sweet and humorous (if not LOL funny). It’s not my usual rec at all, but it gave me a happy when I was in the mood for it. It’s also well written and the author does a very nice job of filling in a lot of back story in a seamless way. I enjoy that sort of storytelling. There’s a bit about Lois and her past that I also found very nifty. Not a substantial fic, but very good for what it is.
OK- it is clearly unfair of me to comment on this WIP because I only read the latest chapter (which would be 16), but someone on LJ was raving about it and I do like to note good WiP’s so I can go back to them later.
Hm. Ok, the writing is good. In the chapter I read, Clark had just told Lex that he was an alien and Lex is in freaking AWE! I love that- I just think it’s so cute when the geek in Lex comes to the fore. So, kudos. However, I also discovered that Lex is a virgin (and I have a hard time imagining that) and when Lex tries to resist ravaging the innocent, underage farmboy, Clark says:
“Lex," Clark sighed fondly, as if he had to put up with this every day, “for once in your life,” that hand reached out, hooking its fingers with Lex’s, “do something *wrong*.”
Huh? This is apparently some incarnation of ‘The Sexy’ that I am unfamiliar with. However, I’ll still check the fic out once it’s finished. Like I say, the writing was solid and some of the ideas were cute.
This is a LJA fic, a short coda to ‘A Better World’. I don’t watch much JLA. OK- I just watch the episodes that feature Lex, cause I’m pathetic like that. Anyway- GREAT episode. In brief, it had ‘Justic Lord’ Superman (who killed President Luthor, which resulted in fascist versions of the JLA members) coming to earth and ‘real’ Superman enlisting Lex’s aid to defeat the guy. Of course, since Lex was in prison at the time, Supes had to give him a ‘get out of jail free’ card in order to obtain said aid. Anyway, this story is based on the idea that Lex had one more condition- he wanted one of ‘Justice Lord’ Superman’s robots for his own (it’s a perfect replica of Supes). Clark agrees- but only after disabling the dangerous bits. Thus we are left to discover just why Lex would want a perfect replica of Superman. Gee. Let me think on that one!
It’s a cute enough story, solid writing with a few quirks that could be cleaned up. You’ll pretty much guess the twist at the end- probably immediately. Still, not a bad way to spend 10 minutes.
