Oh, how I loved ‘I Spy’! It’s odd I’ve never found any fic for it, especially as it really fits the slash profile. Two pretty men, dangerous situations, lots of guns and lots of girls and at the end of the day, the boys always go home together. As per usually, I’d prefer gen fic, but DAMN, this is slash done right. It doesn’t hurt that the story is a coda to my favorite episode, ‘It’s All Done With Mirrors’. In that episode, Kelly was tortured and brainwashed in an effort to get him to kill Scotty. Fortunately, their bond was too strong, though Kelly did attempt to throw himself off a cliff after failing his programing. This tightly written tale, told from Scotty’s pov, looks at what it took to break Kelly down and what it will take to pull him back together.
This isn’t my usual rec- it examines the aftermath of the action rather than the action itself. In fact, the story boils down to a debriefing and some sex. I’m rec’ing it anyway. It caps one of my favorite episodes and it really ‘gets’ the bond between the guys. Excellent writing and characterizations don’t hurt either!
