I saw ‘Contact’ in the theatre. I got bored. I wish I’d watched this video instead- it’s much better than the movie was! This is a beautiful video to watch, and what I like best about it is the pacing and this feeling that it’s building toward something. There’s a tremendous forward momentum to it that just ‘pushes’ the viewer toward the ending. The video also has a big heart- I really like the focus character, her enthusiasm and awe in the face of the ‘men in suits’. Technically it all fits, the footage is beautiful, the clips and the song were made for each other and it’s all combined with a very deft hand. Highly rec’ed!
Viscerel reaction- Beginning grabs me right off the bat- beautiful footage, great pace as we shoot through space. Talky face works at beginning as chick is dealing with the old dudes. I’m liking this song. It really has a driving beat and she makes it WORK- the driving in the car and the running up the stars fit and the whole thing feels like it’s building toward climax- the discovery of secrets. Clips not TOO literal, just enough and it fits great. And juxtaposed fb to her childhood- yes! Just a real enthusiasm coming through (kissing the screen was a great shot). Vid’s better than the movie was. ‘I’m out here listening’ with her sitting in the chair talking (at the end) really worked for me as well. Damn good video, pacing was nice and I really liked the build of intensity and the characterization of um- the girl. Ending was great too- I kind of like how it left you hanging- like this is just the start of a great adventure. This vid gave me a big happy!
