This is a very pretty, very clever look at Angel. If Angel were a slut. Which he is. Technical brilliance, great clips, the perfect melding of clips to song- all of it combines to produce one of my favorite videos. Plot? We don’t need no stinking plot!
Visceral reaction: Hee- Band of Buggered quote- ‘Angel is pretty. And a slut. He’s a pretty slut.’ Too true! Song rocks, source rocks, Angel dances and fucks and looks damn pretty. This amused me to no end and made me actually want to watch the show. Great clip choices that fit the song so damn well it’s scary. Mad rec- maybe a 5 star. Bridge transition fucking slays- from the hand to the ‘aged’ black and white then the neon transition to the ending. ‘Radio edit’ said to Wes- comedy gold! Yea- this one kicks.
You can probably tell from the above that I really enjoyed this vid from the very first viewing. It’s also one that stands up to multiple viewing. It works on a lot of levels for me. I love the song and the driving beat and I love the way the vidder makes the clips fit both the words and the feel of the song. It’s cheesy and humorous and sexy and very very pretty to watch. Technically, this vid blows me away (and makes me very envious). The way she switches over to the shot of the hand running along during the bridge of the song and kind of segues into a really amped ending was beyond cool and clever. The song has a great beat, but it really isn’t that fast. Up until the bridge, the clip transitions aren’t that fast either. There’s variety, and forward momentum is added by really great use of clips with both external and internal motion, but it isn’t fast. With the bridge, and through the quick ‘neon’ scenes, you just really feel the momentum picking up and pushing you forward toward the end. It’s like riding this great big pretty wave of man flesh. Yea, man flesh!
