This haunting Buffy video focuses on the whole cast through season 2. It has a slow, dreamy feel that matches the song, but what I love best is the theme- and how strongly it comes through. It’s all about Buffy and Giles and the Scoobs and how very vulnerable they all were. I see it as an exploration of both the things that make them happy and strong (mainly their relationships with each other) and how at the same time, those are the things through which they can be hurt the most. Poignant. Very.
Viscerel reaction: Heh- two seconds in, and I’ve already totally remembered this one from the first viwing. Definite rec. Just freaking beautiful on every level. Sting kicks ass, the clips fit beautifully, the vid just ‘flows’- but the thing I like best is the theme explored. It’s about Buffy and the Scoobs and Giles and Oz- and how very breakable they all were. Not sure what season this runs through- first 2 or 3. But yea- poignant. Giles toward the end (outside his door post-Jenny’s death)- God, beautiful. And I felt the ‘Xander’ love in a way I rarely did on the show (with that goofy hat on). Kick ass, definite rec. See- I can like slow songs. They just have to be really good!
And on a technical note- I like how they frequently faded between the clips and the clips they chose to fade between. I think that’s part of what made this video seem to flow so nicely for me. I also loved how it ended with mostly happy clips. This was made bittersweet because we knew those happy moments would be transient (i.e., Buffy with her mom, Xander and Cordy, Oz and Willow). Really effective video.
