Evil is fun and sexy and great to dance to!  At least it is in this effects laden depiction of ‘Dark Willow’ and her adventures in magic.  When I watch this vid, I always end up bouncing around in my chair like I’m having a seizure and then I decide that I REALLY want to become a witch!  I, too, want to dress in black, shoot sparks out my fingers, and lock annoying boys in cages so they can dance for my pleasure.  DANCE BITCHES, DANCE!  And they better not stop until I say it’s okay!  Hm- this vid has powers.  Evil powers.  Have I mentioned how much fun evil powers are?  This is an shiny, sparkly technical effect stuffed vid done right!

Visceral reaction:  Right off the bat, I know this vid is something special.  The drop(?) effect and the wavy Willow face and even the lettering of the credits are all very ‘in your face’/notice me effects- and set to freak’n ‘Insane Clowne Posse’!  Oh, man- this is going to be something very different!!!  Then boom- I love the books flying down to the sound of crows- too cool!!!  Then zooming in on the books and out on Willow’s face as she absorbs the magic and the words scroll upward.  Then a big BOOM as the magic zaps from her hands right on time to the beat!  Damn- I’m in LOVE with this vid!!  Massive hook- this vid owns me from the start and it never lets go.  I’m also amazed at how freak’n well the lyrics fit, and how seamlessly the clips flow together and STILL fit the lyrics.  It’s freakish.  Or perhaps, just freakishly talented vidders.  Either way, much coolness.  I also like quite a few spots where the internal movement in the clips matches up to the beat.  Like when Willow ‘swoops’ up to the jail window, or she turns around to face the camera- it fits with ‘slidey’ spots in the song.  Feels very organic.  Totally dig that effect when she’s spinning- is it ghosting or echo?  Don’t know, but it works well.  So does the drop effect on the cymbals that keeps happening- and the use of ‘flash of light’ type scenes on the beat when the drop effect isn’t used.  I can’t believe how perfectly they weave the ‘raising the dead’ section of lyrics with the clips.  Nice mix of literal and non-literal clip choices.  And what the hell kind of effect is that where Willow is transported from one spot to another (’city streets’ lyrics)?  It’s like layers, with a radiel blur underneath and mad use of image track transparency or something?  Shit, I have no idea, but it works beautifully for me.  It’s very slidey!  Ending is a little anticlimatic, but then again, the song just kinda ends.  Not really sure what you could do with it.  Also, it wouldn’t be any fun to end with ‘bummed Willow’ or ‘giving up magic Willow’ or ‘the first step is admitting you have a problem Willow’.  Ugh!
